Our day
Well, I made it on time today- no garage door issues :)
After duty I was 'warned' that the primary classes would be having one of their Olympic events in the hallway compete with horns and cowbells.
so instead of trying to do the SRA reading program I asked the students if they would like to watch the first couple of periods of the Canadian men's first hockey game in Sochi.
We live streamed the game and watched a kind of slow first period and band class had started before the first goal but we hooted and hollered anyway - you could hear the students high fiving all over he school! So cool to think that this is happening a world away and we can just put it onto the digital overhead and be a part of the games!!

Band class

Math 7 groups today completing work on circle geometry finding circumference
Math 6 with Mr. Parker

1-2pm  assembly for a presentation from the VTSL Vancouver Theatre Sports League
The improvisation used the Audience suggestions for creating unique, funny and interactive skits. The students seemed to enjoy it especially the grade three student who was required to make the sound effects!

Back in class we managed to settle for about 20 minutes of some quiet reading and then to do an activity for personal planning that was intended to show the students that many of the body changes that happen in puberty are happening to both boys and girls and not just the girls!!
We separated the physical from the mental/emotional development and the students did seem to be taken aback by how much they are going through especially emotionally!

Dismissal 3:04
Guess it is a bit late to remind you about the meeting for DRS school tonight- sorry!
Hope you had a good evening
Mrs. J.
