I'm baaack- took Friday off due to a nasty cold and cough .... Still not feeling a 100% but had the weekend to rest and recover. Cough is hanging on but I am trying to keep it behind a Kleenex.

Record activity
Complete the last chapter of the movie The day after tomorrow and discuss together the observations that students made on Friday. We added to the various sections of the responses. The students are aware what a Hollywood rendition of a story or a theory can become. The student' average score for the movie was a 7/10
If you ask them what it was about, they should be able to describe the premise of the story as well as explain the exaggerated representation of the science of claim the change.
As an educator I want to encourage my students to become discerning viewers who interest and the manipulation of the movie industry but can still enjoy a good show, story or representation of a cause.
We completed this with an ABC clip (7 minutes) from a team of 'ice'scientists (yes there are ice experts) who have been working for the last few years gathering visual footage of the retreat of the arctic ice and glaciers - we saw some of their footage in a fast forward format and it showed the shrinking ice fields and the thinning out of the glaciers. Crazy!
The students were becoming a bit antsy at the end of the afternoon so we finished the day with the Egyptian art activity ( some asked to work on the completion of their title page for their projects) while I read the next chapter of our class novel Waiting for Normal.
Dismissal
Have a good Monday night
Mrs. J.
