Meeting at Don Ross tonight for the transition of the grade six and seven students to DRS this September. There is a great deal of work to be done to make it as smooth as possible for the students.
Reminders
Spelling was postponed until Friday due to missing 8 students this morning - I gave any student the option of asking to test today if they felt they did not want to wait until tomorrow but no one took me up on that!!
Math 7 quiz integers (+ & -) and writing expressions
Our day
We decided too many student were away for us to do the spelling and the students seemed quite happy to postpone
Instead we used the time for research for the social studies project in class for reading, note taking and deciding on which section or which information was relevant for specific sections
Band class
Math 7 followed up a reading question FSA style as a review from Tuesday's class. We looked at how to plan an answer to a literary question about using the setting to create suspense and excitement in a story.
Math groups session working on practice for tomorrow's quiz
Read to self
Personal planning Who are you?...collage activity
Students create a poster which represents who they Re, what theyc are about and what makes them 'tick' (what they love)
Kudos to my volunteers this afternoon - the teachers and students you assisted had very positive things to say and were impressed with your work. Great job - be as proud of yourself as we are of your effort
Art worked a bit more on those 'French' sandwiches while I read the next chapter of our read aloud - we agreed to go as far as chapter 5 and of there the students are not grooving on the story we will look for another novel.
Dismissal
Have a good what's left of the evening!
Mrs. J.
