So grateful to Mrs. P.
She stopped me tonight as I was shuffling into the parking right after school to drive to DRS for a meeting that is actually TOMORROW night (I managed to mix up the staff meeting night which is next Wednesday with the high school transition meeting for grade six/seven teachers which I now know is tomorrow) Sheesh!

Spelling tests tomorrow unit 4 and H words

Discussed all the options today for the social studies research reports to allow as many different options as possible for presentation: traditional report word processed and presented in duo tang, power point presentation, Prezzi (digital presentation), research poster or triptych presentation of various components of the project, some students have also requested to complete a physical or creative component for the personal interest section for ancient civilization (example a newspaper or magazine presentation, making a sarcophagus and mummy from paper mâché, creating a rendition of an ancient farming implement or a ziggurat or pyramid etc)
I am open to other ideas that work for a research project.

SRA reading lab session

French review of food vocabulary for an activity called 'Quel sandwich' in which students create their own crazy sandwiches although I had to reign in some of their 'creative' ideas for sandwich contents and direct their masterpieces back to food (needed to keep the activity contents appropriate for school environment if you get my drift!!)

Math practice writing expressionsfrom the textbook examples in Ch 10
Computer session - used to introduce the students to the FSA reading comprehension practice on-line making sure they know how to spilt the screen so they can read the selection and see the questions side by side - helps recall and focuses reading for specific content requested in the questions asked in the assessment. There are six selections and 40 multiple choice questions

Physical Education basketball session
Chose to separate the boys and the girls scrimmages today and it worked well for both groups in my opinion.

Art - worked on creating some crazy sandwiches while I read the first chapter from the other choices for the next class read allowed and , after all that, the students majority voted the Safe House novel as the one they want to continue.
