our day..
band class
language arts- Term 1 reflections and goals- initial thoughts and responses in journals - to be completed this after noon at the computer session
French les opposties - actually we did well on this activity calling the main vocabulary for opposites (rich/poor, long /short etc) first in English and then matching up the French equivalent. The students all recognized my rendition of the Eiffel Tower :)
Math 7
peer practice today- was finding some students getting defensive with my instruction (sheesh!) so I called a peer practice day where the students who are confident with their BEDMAS skills partner up with a classmate who needs help and work together on presumably doing quiz prep together. I was impressed with the response and hope that students are ready to test their skills.
I have created the quiz examples from worksheet #34 and have asked for them to SHOW WORKING.
The main reason for incorrect answers on the basic arithmetic skills in Order of operations is not doing the work or order properly step by step. If you can add, subract and multiply and divide, you can be successful with Order of Operations.

'good' - word processed copy of the Term 1 reflection
students used their work from this morning to help guide their writing.
I like students to get a chance to tell me what they think about the term. It allows me to incorporate their thoughts into a report card comment and gives me a starting point for discussion with parents.
Rivers of the World
an activity highlighting the longest rivers in the world with a review on countires and continents.

que tempus fugit (How time flies!) translation from the Latin in case someone thinks I am swearing on the Blog (lol)
