In another rush tonight (off to West Van.) so if I don't finish the refelction on today's class I have lots of time later this evening to wax lyrical!!!

Spelling Test Unit 1 tomorrow morning

Our Day
Language Arts:
study for spelling 5-7 minutes focus on 3 or 4 words for the unit test tomorrow
Novel Chapter 5 after i shared the students' reponses to chapter 4 from Tuesdays class- some very insightful and honest responses (maybe have time later to share a couple on the Blog)
After Ch 5 I asked the students to make an effort to think like the character and write a journal response in character.
I haven't had a chance to read them yet- I'll let you know how it worked!

French
Days of the week, months of the year, seasons, dates and numbers- all the basic vocabulary- worked in partnerships today - lots of work needed to bring us up to a working level.
I do not understand the negative attitude of many of my students toward French!! What is that about?

Math rounding numbers review and basic skills practice
half hour on-line practice of these skills
Cool Math games website is okay BUT specific skills practice is necessary before the games! Unless the game specifically targets a math outcome I will be directing the students to IXL or to skill specific on-line sites.

our September Scholastic order arrived :)

Phys Ed. Handball- decent effort but long way to go toward following the footwork rules and teamwork without all the physical contact! Need to review what 3 steps looks like! However, everyone participated and everyone thanked each other after the games. Good stuff.
