Math7 review using a 10 minute podcast of the procedures for how to use the Microsoft Chart Wizard feature to create accurate and complete statistical information in graphs.
We also reviewed the technology available for students to take responsibilty for their learning ,and in particular their math learning, outside the four walls of the classroom. Some that we have used this year are: Khan academy podcasts and lessons, IXL for practice- goes up to grade 9 in BC, text book web sites for MathLinks 7,8 and 9, Microsoft excel charts and calculators with order of operations, square root and pi functions. Some other ideas are to find a tutor ($$), develop a study group with friends or purchase some workbooks for the appropriate level for further practice. There is no reason to sit on hands and be helpless- if you have a weak area in math there are many ways that you can work to improve it if you have the motivation to do so.
We discussed an upcoming project for Monday and Tuesday next week.
11:30-12:45 Honour Band practice (last one of the year)
Silent Reading
Personal Planning looking at assertiveness and aggression - how to recognize your personality and be more balance in responses to triggers- I am not too sure but about 12 students (half the class) claimed that the inventory did get their 'personality' correct!! That's pretty amazing :)
Science - was intending to show a Natural Disasters DVD (Eyewiteness) but ran into technical difficulty (volume- turns out a student had turned the volume off earlier)...c'est la vie we ran out of time once we found the solution to the problem and it was suddenly time for
dun... dun... dun...
