Thursday Feb 28th

Oh Me, Oh My - it is snowing again!!! Need to remember it is the last day of February- I guess it is pretty normal for biploar February weather patterns. Lots of Pineapple express rain was forecast but it was just cold enough for the white stuff.
How is it in Seattle, Lucy (miss you) :)

Homework
well, today was the last day of the term as report cards for term 2 are due into the office on Monday March 4th
so there will be no new homework and it is getting kind of late for any old homework as this weekend I will be compiling my data to determine a fair assessment of the term's accomplishments

Reminders
grade sevens need to return their registration forms for grade 8 at DRS before spring break- why not tomorrow?
camp forms still need to come in
band class first thing tomorrow morning so bring your instruments people!

Our day...

If...paragraph write
journal writing: If you could change or completely eliminate just one thing from your daily routine- what would it be?
Interesting array of every day necessities that we'd rather do without. Top one: getting up in the morning!! I resemble that remark!!
Others: brushing teeth, cleaning dog poop, math (apparently it hurts brain cells),

SRA reading program- last day of this as a class timed activity

Math7
quiz on solving equations and a self assessment on the skills we completed in the Term from late November to today
It hasn't escaped my observation that a few are really struggling with this skill- another observation is that those students are the few who have a difficult time focussing on math in class instead of social interaction - go figure, huh?
Once the quiz was complete the students worked on a challenging design (a helicopter) plotting points on a four quadrant Cartesian graph.

Silent reading
Took a while to get settled but finally managed- I don't know whether it was today's whacky weather or my mood but the students  were rather 'needier' than usual this afternoon. I swear they are going to wear out my name!! Some even took to touching my shoulder today to get the attention they needed- believe me that is unusual for this age group! When they call me 'mom' I know they feel comfortable but...

We switched computer classes with Madame Miller today so from 1:40-2:20 we had a computer session and the students wrote a Term 2 reflection about what they remembered most, were proud of and thought they might have worked harder on etc. These reflections always help me with my personal comments on the report card. Thanks everyone.
Once done some free time was up for grabs :)

Back in class we decided keep the French for tomorrow and instead used the last session of the afternoon to complete incomplete activities so I can stop whining about missing assignments!!

I read a chapter of the class novel and the students finished the day working together on the word search.

Have a good evening everyone. I have a couple of birthday presents and cards to buy.
Mrs. J.
