Getting a bit of an earlier start on the post tonight as I managed to get a 20 minute break at computers- the students are working on the socials brochure activity- some of the work so far looks interesting.
I have welcomed lots of variety in the completion of the brochure. They may use a brochure template which is on the school computers in Microsoft Word or a site like brochuremaker.com. Or if they prefer to word process and create a folded brochure of their own creation- cut and paste their research. Others still are relishing the ability to hand create everything from pictures and text.
I enjoy watching the work come together - some are close to completion.
No new homework
Reminders
I am not sure about being able to offer the June25th trip to Playland after all. The paperwork for the field trip, availability of buses, not enough students willing to come and not enough parents able to join us that day (Monday) make it a very difficult thing to organize so late in the year. I know the students will be disappointed...perhaps we can think of something closer to home?????
Friday next week is our annual Sports Day- more info to come soon
General day
Science
Chapter 5 Solutions and Mixtures
12 multiple choice statements to read and decide the on the best answer from text based understanding of the reading on molecules and atoms. Also complete 12 true/false statements. We intend to get this marked together this afternoon once everyone has handed it in.
Computer session 10-10:30am for the socials brochure.
I am impressed with the general progress and the variety of creative projects :)
Math 7 complete the What's your Angle worksheet
Use Chapter 3 of the Mathlinks 7 text to review the concepts that we have visited in math in the last couple of weeks. Looked at and identified the key ideas.
Spend a Million (some students are complete and they assisted the music teacher while some played chess/cards/dominoes and other board games)
Silent reading
thanks to all the students in class who were out this afternoon assisting the PAC appreciation tea. There were 9 of them all together :)
Corrected the science activity from the morning and provided a bit more time for the completion of the Ch5 cloze review and vocabulary search.
Art time (or because so many were out, we busied ourselves with a variety of activities) Some did math, some science, some art, some their posters and others their brochures.
Last twenty minutes at the computer lab (that's where I managed to start this post) again allowing more screen time work on the socials brochure.
Clean up and
Dismissal (TGIFx2)
it has been a 'week'. I need to rest up for next week.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs. J.
