Wednesday May 23rd

Some after school times are busier than during school times!

Nice to see parents. It would help me out a great deal if you could please let me know ahead of time (even a phone message or e-mail) you are coming or intending to request a meeting time so I can have things ready for us and spend the necessary time.
I try to attend a scheduled fitness class after school on Wednesdays(3:30pm) and am finding that I have had to miss it a couple of times due to unexpected meetings. Thanks for understanding my dilemma- I most certainly would not turn away a parent who would like to meet with me but I have this one obligation to myself on Wednesdays that I would like to honour.

Homework
Spelling Unit 8 Friday 22 words get busy studying them!
Incomplete science activities (I'll publish a list of 'wanted' from soon...)

Reminders
Shades of Fun day Thursday spend a loonie for the Canadian Institute for the Blind and you can wear your cool sunglasses and whacky decorated glasses in class/school. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated glasses and the glasses that have the most recycled material in the gym at lunch time.
Also Thursday Mrs Fanzega's garage and lemonade sale books, toys and a tasty drink- bring a few dollars.
Friday Y2K Relay for Life team (students from our school) are selling frozen yogurt after school Friday ($2) to raise funds for the Cancer fundraising event in June.

General Day
daily French

socials and language arts - note taking activity from a slide show 'virtual' tour of Greece. Today we went to the Acropolis and had a look at drachmas (Greek currency before the euro). We talked of exchange and costs of travel.

band

Math 7
redo of the graph analysis section which so many had difficulty with last review (14)
students not needing to redo the test (10) did a couple of review algebra puzzles (magic square worksheet and a match up of English written equations to algebraic equivalents)
Computer session- thanks to Mrs. D who was there to supervise the arrival of the grade sevens as I waited for the few still completing the test to finish.
Spend a million session- tomorrow I need to rein in the ropes a bit as I am hearing and seeing some 'not so thoughtful' purchases and we need to get started on the presentation and the budget process now that they have had a chance to 'shop around'.

Silent Reading

Socials took the students to the EF Educational tours web site. The tour that I was on many years ago is still one of the feature tours. I was able to call up the information on the tour and show the students a video from the perspective of the students who were there. We reviewed our morning travel information using the slide pictures from the actual trip.

Phys Ed. "Hunter and Prey"
Class 'hide and seek' game in the back wooded area.
We managed to play two rounds as students asked if they could play another- it was a bit cooler in the trails than it has been but it didn't seem to bother them. Everyone participated and everyone was accounted for- good stuff.

Back to class review the day and homework/ activities to be handed in and before
Dismissal
reminder of the busy Thursday ahead
Have a nice night
Mrs. J.
