word challenge double puzzle- use clues to unscramble 10 words and determine the extra letter. Use the ten extra letters to scramble the correct word for an occupation.

Language Arts/Socials Virtual tour of Greece
First order of business is to 'pack' our virtual bags and decide what is necessary and what items besides clothing and footwear is needed on an international trip. We looked up the weather information about this time of year (I was using a Fromme's budget travel guide)
We discussed the suggestions of travel experts about carrying money and valuables as tourists.
Next we 'travelled' from Vancouver to Toronto and then Toronto to Athens meeting the bus in Athens on Day 2 of our trip. I empahsized that it was a long, tiring trip so we get a bit of a rest before taking a walking tour of Athens as our 'hotel' is in central Athens. More this afternoon for Socials

Math 7
complete statistics work sheets and begin line geometry. Agree (or remind) the date of the redo for the analysis of graphs unit. I did a planning pre-quiz to see what the studnets rememebr about geometry from previous years. It will help me plan the unit lessons. Today we looked at the way lines and angles can be recognized in a parallel line setting as alternate, corresponding or internal using the Z, F and C shapes in a prallel line and transversal.
They seemed tp be following me!

Silent reading
It took a bit of time to get everyone calm (not sure what happens at lunch but it seems to be social unravelling)

Socials took them on a slide tour of central Athens using slides from my trip there with a high school class many years ago. The students are to keep some notes from the information of the virtual tour and they will be creating a brochure to showcase one or two of these places after the slide presentaion is over.
We are on day 2 of an 8 day trip called Grecian Odessey (it is one run the EF Educational tours company)

Phys Ed. today something different
Some balance and strength building exercises before a class game which featured speed, accuracy and teamwork (kind of a warm up for sports day)

Back in class I tried to get them to help me with some station ideas for sports day but it was not an effective contribution of ideas. Laser tag? Really?
I offered them a choice of a class game and interestingly enough the one they wanted (and attempted) to play was one which did not sit well with me- the one word each make up a story game where some chose to pick on certain people in the class. I put an end to it quite quickly once I realized that it wasn't a story for story's sake but a poorly veiled attept to embarrass peers. I wonder when their sense of empathy kicks in?

Anyway by tht time it was time to prep for dismissal. Some afternoons are better than others!
Have a good evening at least it is not raining like yesterday!
Mrs. J.
