t'was the night before school start up

Rocky travels home (at seven years old he is now ages with me)
It has been a lovely August weather wise and as a wonderful summer. I am feeling refreshed and ready to get back to school tomorrow- I always get excited. I have spent the weekend doing all those little things that I think to myself that I will get to during the summer but ...

I have so much fun with the opportunity to be with the grade ones while we are waiting for the numbers to organize our classes. This will be the last year that our youngest students have to get used to being at school for the whole day! They usually start asking if it is time to go home yet at about 11am? Just an hour tomorrow to get everyone's 'feet wet'.

It will be an exciting year at Squamish Elementary with lots of changes- full day kindergarten, French immersion classes, new students and staff as well as former, more bodies and more sharing.

See all your bright and gorgeous faces tomorrow.

Every year during Labour Day my 'labour' of love since my son was born (1997) has been to create a written retrospect of the summer (it has now morphed into a year's restrospective with a bit of global news of the year thrown in for good measure). The summer he was born (and he truly is a summer boy) was the year that both Princess Diana and Mother Theresa died and it had such an impact on me then that I felt the need to let him know what had happened when he was born.
Now he has a journal that spans 15 entries and maybe one day it will be something he will enjoy reading and relecting on his life so far! Maybe not. I know that I enjoy writing it and reflecting on everything that we have to be joyful and thankful for. Our children grow up so fast- enjoy every moment even the ones that drive you crazy!!

Enjoy what's left of the holiday Monday.
