If you have 20 minutes, please use it to watch this this inspirational presentation by British chef, Jamie Oliver. It might just save your children from obesity and allow them to live a longer and more healthy life. 20 minutes for 20+ years- good payoff!
We don't have cafeterias in district 48 schools per se like the British and American ones he refers to in the video but it sure makes me think about what we are buying and eating for lunches on a daiy basis particularly during the school year when many of us are in a rush to get the lunches together.
I last saw Jamie Oliver in a documentary type program called "School Dinners" or something similar (don't quote me on the title). He was trying to change the food practices in the cafeteria of a school in California and was being stonewalled and basically 'run out' by the 'box checkers' he refers to in his talk.
Anyway, I thought it was worth 20 minutes of my time and I hope you will find it interesting too. Wow! My thanks to middle school principal, Tom Saunders, for bringing it to my attention.
