Friday February 25th

Lovely sunshine makes it warmer and more manageable somehow.
I am tired tonight and I have a weekend bonspeil that starts tomorrow bright and early so I need to get home and get some rest.
Congratulations to the boys' basketball team who were undefeated this season with their win at home last night. We are proud of your team work and skills..
I need to set up for another student on Monday...we will welcome student #30 to our classroom and school.

Homework
as it has been all week, there is NOTHING NEW
BUT, as it has been all week, there are a handful of students who still need to hand in Science Chapter 7 work and spelling activities
for the Earth's Crust booklet I am waiting for 3
How Rocks are formed booklet for 5
Ch 7 review booklet 12
Names of the 'so accused' are on the board as a reminder and I encourage them to erase once the activity is handed in to me :)
Reminder that on Monday I have asked the students to come prepared to change for a fitness unit- they will not be able to paticipate in skinny jeans and skirts. Please being shorts and be prepared to participate.

General Day
DPA: I always like starting Friday in the gym- the students played and participated well- today I was looking specifically at basketball handling skills and ball 'sense': moving, passing and shooting baskets. Great job all around.

In class once settled, we decided that we would read one more chapter of DGC and we did. The students voted to start another book next week as they really haven't got the DGC bug the same way they did with Word Nerd. Once again I always suggest students can work on an activity while listening (like the maps or their spelling activities if incomplete)
New book: Payback by James Heneghan (we ahd actually started this one earlier in the year but I can't remember why we didn't go any

Science: completed the work on the continental plates map and a worksheet about Pangea (not in the text)

Art: trying to squeeze in some time to complete the landscapes and rotations projects for the upcoming art show.

Hot lunch day today

1pm Lockdown drill

DEAR time was not bad for a Friday- as next week is the marks cut off for Term 2 assessment, I am trying to get students to use time to get themselves organized and up to date with all incomplete or undone activities

Finally completed the last half hour of the movie that we started this time last week. The students had been asking all week and I hadn't intended to finish showing it BUT....the students are VERY persistent!! :)

We packed up and headed to the computer lab for the last half hour of the day- I allowed them some free time.
3pm Dismissal
Enjoy the weekend- apparently it is supposed to snow Saturday!
