Well the snow has been coming down all day and I'm in my classroom wondering if my parents will make it for the interviews booked tonight- so far so good.
We had a 2pm dismissal today to accommodate the second day of interviews. I appreciate the parents and students who have made the effort to come and meet to discuss their children's reports.
Homework
Please read and complete the reflection forms on the back of the letter that went home in the term 1 report card
complete the graphing picture (it should look like a helicopter!!)
Band forms still looking for 10
General Day
The snow caused a lot of excitement and Antonio (who arrived in Canada from Manila 3 weeks ago) is delighted to be experiencing snow for the first time.
Enjoy the snow- but please don't throw!!!
We started the day with a safety Lock down drill- our safety drills have to be practised a certain number of times a year. The students complied with the Code Red and Code Green expectations although sometimes drills get the grade sevens asking "What if" questions that get increasingly more difficult to answer!!!
Unit 9 spelling test
Music
Article for Social Studies The Ice Man- discovered in 1991 by a couple of Austrian hikers in the Swiss Alps- they thought it was the body of a hiker but their 'find' turned out to be the remains of a Neolithic trader who was fully clothed in surprisingly modern clothing- he had leggings, leather shoes, typical camping paraphernalia and was covered in tattoos- go figure - the more things change the more they stay the same!!!!
Anyway, turns out that apparently the discovery caused a fight between the countries of Italy and Austria for the right to 'own' him as an artifact!!! He was found on the border of the two countries.
computers- more time for Virtual Adventure research - the students are finding out just how expensive it is to go on a super adventurous vacation!!
DEAR time was used very well today- seems the MP3 incentive has done the trick!! :)
Art- soda pop label creation
2pm dismissal.
Have to get back to interviews!!
See everyone next week.
