Wednesday - wonderfully full of surprises

It was quite the day- a bit different for sure- the plans I made the night before for class went out the window with some things that I had forgotten so we changed the topics and I tried to think on my feet and actually it all turned out rather well.

I'll be as quick as I can as I feel a bit 'under the weather' tonight- bit of a chest cold and my voice has been shaky all day. There I go again, Wah, Wah!!

Today I gave out detailed packing lists at a meeting for Camp. We went over the necessities and options for luggage. We answered some questions and asked for student input into the cabins and activity groups that Mr. Parker and I are going to configure tonight. As for receipts, I would like to send them home with students in a sealed envelope as they can be used for taxes next year. I was concerned that some might get 'lost' between the classroom and the front door so have opted to make a more official presentation of the camp receipts.

Homework
Take home the packing list and get started preparing for camp

General Day
Began the day with some creative thinking and planning time for the mythology stories and I must say (as scary as it is to 'let them loose') I have been impressed so far by the ambitious plans and stories that have been worked on so far. There are scripts, research into Gods and Hero characters for talk shows, a 'story board' for a video version of the 12 labours of Hercules, parodies, a comic strip version of Theseus and the Minotaur as well as a number of creative versions of new myths and monsters- pretty creative bunch of students.

Mrs. Manzini visited the school today and worked this morning with a number of grade six and seven students to teach them how to play some playground games which they will teach to the rest of us in the near future.

I did a whacky wordies group puzzle- one of those that works both sides of the brain- like what is this well used phrase? NEPAINCK
'pain in the neck'
LOFALLVE?
'fall in love'
get it?

For math we informally looked at the formula for Pythagorus theorum.

I gave some time for French dialogues- we'll try to get them performed the week after camp probably.

During lunch we tried on the sample sizes for the Grad hoodies- the favourite size was the adult medium.

DEAR time was well used

We did a bit of socials from the text book and looked at the differences between the city state of Athens and that of Sparta.
Oh, that reminds me - the show last night comparing the ancient weaponry of Alexander to that of Atila the Hun- guess who won? Atila the Hun's weaponry was superior. Thanks for the update, Surinder :)

Camp meeting was next- see above for details.

returned to class- clean up and dismissal
day went fast
Have a nice evening,
Mrs. J.
I'm going home to salt water gargle now!!!
