Tuesday

Today was one of those days where I never really felt in control of what was happening but just went with the flow and somehow it all worked and we managed to progress a little on some assignments and projects on the go...and everybody survived.Woo Hoo!!

I think I understand how my students can sometimes feel overwhelmed because lately I have been having a difficult time concentrating on completing one task before I begin another. It feels a bit like my brain cells are fighting me- I am enjoying the socials projects but do find it slower going than I thought. There are so many things on the go (camp prep., fundraising ideas, Paralympic fieldtrips, transportation details, meetings and day to day class assignments and issues) as well as getting the FSA testing completed that I don't know what to do first. Thanks for reading :) Today one of my students asked about the next report card and I felt a mild panic wash over me!! I'm not there yet!!!

Homework
read novel Dragon Keeper (I am encouraged that several students have not only completed the novel but the sequel too- there is now an official classroom waiting list and some have even said they'll see if it is available in the community library :)) Your children are READING :)
spelling Unit 17 Thursday test
FSA tomorrow (last section) long write (3-5 paragraphs)

General Day
Olympics family groups started the day- there was a buzz about our celebrity goalie- Mr. Pascuzzi- the students gave him a warm welcome. We finished our last two events with hockey shots on goal- I tried a top corner slapshot but I missed :) Our closing ceremony is Friday!!

French time for the clothing assignment (I just want to encourage students to complete it this week but it was difficult to get everyone calm enough to focus before recess break)

Math completed the sample practice assignments #7-11. Around the class most students seem to understand the switching of the subraction operation to an addition when asked to subtract integers. A booklet of further skill practice and puzzles was distributed today for tomorrow's class.

Physical Education with Mr.Parker

DEAR reading time - encouraging students to read the novel- today's reading time was intrerrupted by some students who were unable to settle down after P.Ed. (it doesn't help that they are all in their basketball uniforms anticipating the last game of their season tonight!!)

Art- allowed students to continue with the French clothing assignment while others worked on the Egyptian profiles and hieroglyphic cartouches

Dismissal
Good luck to the boy's who have a game at Mamquam (last one)
See everyone tomorrow
Mrs. J.
