General day
I know you can't generalize BUT in all the years that I have taught, student behaviour, when it comes to academic work, is very predictable. We had an interesting chat about this today in class becuse we did a review of Term 1 goals for Personal Planning. We decided on three main types of behaviour and I challenged the studentds to figure out which category they might fall into.
1.There are students who put their heads down and just get on with it in the class time given- they'd rather not be worried about homework and they may (but not always) compromise some quality for speed.
2. There are the students who mean well but are terrribly distracted who always get a great start but not much more completed in class. They may, or may not, make a bit of an effort to get the work completed at home or in class but generally they just hand it in as is.
3. The'blamer' is the student who never has what is needed either at school or at home and it is everybody else's fault. They perhaps missed a few days or lost the assignment or have three hundred other excuses why it didn't get started. They are very unlikey to take it home let alone get it completed. :) :) :0 :( Why not have a discussion with your son or daughter tonight about where they see themselves and what changes can be made if necessary!!
Today we
