Hi there-
sorry about the missing blog for the last couple of school days. I have just talked to my TOC (Miss Borsoff) who was in for Friday and Monday and she reports that the grade 6/7's had a very productive day and she has commended the work that she has seen them do so far on their Reader Responses- she has recently taught high school English so it is encouraging to hear that they're on track so early in the year :)
Homework for tonight
the overdue reader's response #3 (seems to be the same suspects and excuses!!) this was given preparation time in class Friday AND today
Read chapters 18-20 (by Thursday) chapters 16 and 17 were read aloud in class today
North American Map (continent of) complete the blanks- colour suggestions given on map and outline colouring is fine
Math Cross #2 puzzle
Thursday Spelling test Unit #3 study throughout the week
It is really nice to know that the students have managed so well with a TOC in my class especially on the last and first days of the week. This year I intend to look after my health and not keep on going until I am really sick like I usually do! I heard an adage recently about taking your 'own oxygen' first before you (I) can be of help to anyone else.
Today I was at a training day for the SSTA (Sea to Sky Teacher's Association) which was very intense. The topic was concerned with teaching and assessment and it reminded me what it is like to sit in a classroom and be a 'student'. My opinion is that teachers make the worst kind of students sometimes in a setting with colleagues. I am the kind of person that needs to concentrate on a speaker and constant chatter is distracting!! Say no more.
Have a good night everyone and I will be back to class tomorrow.
Great job boys and girls- I am proud of you .
Mrs. J.
