Hi everyone- sorry about last night's blog - I am experiencing some technical difficulties with the classroom computer and sometimes by the time I get home I forget about doing it altogether!!
Anyway my students and I had a very productive class 'community' meeting yesterday and I expressed to them both what I was thankful to them for and what was becoming so frustrating that I was beginning to lose my patience and the response was respectful and positive.
We have had a good couple of days and the poems and work production for many has picked up.
Today we listened to the students who entered the public speaking contest and Quinn impressed us all with his speech about Attilla the Hun (hero or barbarian?). Great job, Quinn :)
As for homework, I asked the students to take home and complete the booklets we were working on today which provide a review for the unit on angles and lines. We have been practicing how to find a missing angle without relying on a protractor. I did get about 7 completed in class.
I have requested that late poems and brochures be handed in by tomorrow and will provide a bit of class time to get the t's crossed and the i's dotted. The students have been requesting some work time which is always easy to provide but sometimes more difficult to manage because not all students are motivated to work independently even when they need the time!!!
I have also asked the students to return their camp commitment forms for Horne Lake. Most have paid now and their are 5 more students to bring in money for the hoodies they ordered.
Hopefully you have had a chance to read the travel information for next week's trip. I think the students are looking forward to it. See you all Friday.
