Monday May 4th

Lots of absences today!!! I'm feeling the effects of seasonal allergies myself...

Today we added 5 words to the final set (Unit 26) on our class word list. Test on Thursday.
A crossword puzzle forUnits 23-25 was distributed and thanks to all students who worked diligently and managed to finish it today.
We are now at Vocab-u-lous worksheets for H, G and I (some students are already working on J)- keep up the good work!!
We read another chapter of the novel Word to Ceasar- after every three chapters a brief review assignment will be expected. I don't mind if students want to read ahead as long as they can also recall enough detail for the chapter assignments.
Math today was a quick "what do you remember quiz" about the language and tools of geometry- lines, angles, use of protractor and a 'mini' booklet of review type activities.

We previewed the Scholastic book fair offerings. Students found some interesting items.

Jackie Dickinson completed Week 4 of the Drug and alcohol program- some really good discussion took place about stereotypes and drugs. Next week we will be viewing portions of the CBC documentary about Vancouver's East end called "Through a Blue Lens".
We finished off our busy Monday in the computer lab- I would like the students to chose one destination from our virtual trip to Greece and research that area to create a brochure for it- remembering to include both modern and ancient references.
Try a visit to a website called www.wordle.net to create a neat word 'cloud' of thematic words that can be manipulated and printed artistically on the page.

Homework:
Finish the Transformations cumulative review for correction tomorrow.
Vocab-u-lous G if not already done
Unit 26 spelling (Thurs)
Hot Lunch notice reminder

see everyone Tuesday :)
