We are loving the sunny weather.
Both boys' and girls' floor hockey games are on as I speak. The boys have headed to HSSS as our gymnasium is still set up for gymnastics. Good luck to both teams.
Today we covered the ground rules for our Sexual Health unit and began by looking at some amazing close up pictures of the beginning of human life from egg to a five month old fetus. The pictures were made famous when published in Life magazine by a Swedish photographer called
Lennart Nilsson. He used advanced scanning, eletron microscopes and fiber-optic devices to chronicle the journey from fertilization to human development. Our ground rules covered the need for us to both listen and respect each other during the lessons and to remember we do not all share the same set of values but need to keep an open mind and allow discussion of a variety of perspectives.
We also began looking at poetry forms through three different genres of music - regge, hard rock and contemporary rock. Lyrics are poetry and both the words to a song and the music provide a
different level of emotion and meaning. I am attempting to reach poetry through the students' musical tastes.
Our T-Shirts-4-U project is in full business swing!! I am impressed with the discussion and understanding of profit making mark-up that the students are involved in. Good progress :)
Remember the Information Night for grade eight at HSSS tonight at 7pm.
A hot lunch form and a government survey for all parents of grade sevens went home today.
Tomorrow is like Friday !! It will be our last day before Easter Break. Lollipops will be delivered to classes and there will be no homework until after the break.
All work currently underway will be due by end of class Wednesday. Thanks.
