Tuesday April 21st

We held a successful earthquake drill today although being under a desk for even 60 seconds is a bit of a cramp for some of the grade seven students and their growing bodies!! I guess in real earthquake you don't care what you hide under as long as there is something to cover your body!!

In socials today we completed our Day 4 trip from Pireus (the port outside Athens) and visited three islands in the Saroinc Gulf: Aegina, Poros and Hydra (Idra). Once we have finished the 'old school' slides from the trip, the students will chose one of the destinations and create a modern day brochure to promote both the history and the modern day appeal of visiting the destination.
(The slides are from a high school trip to Greece that I was part of in 1994).
In Personal Planning we discussed the similar signs and 'symptoms' of puberty and discovered that there are many changes we share as males and females. We had an interesting discussion about the students' perceptions of the advantages of growing up male or female. Some topics need a bit more discussion and reflection.

It was nice to see Mrs. Kubin this afternoon. She also came to see the students in the Voices of Nature concert on Friday.

For homework tonight if not already completed

Math Cartesian graphing booklet which reviews all the fundamentals of plotting and reading coordinates on a graph
Science workbook pages 100-102
French: Les prepositions workbook- work made easy as I left the answers at the bottom of the quiz !!! (duhh!!)
Spelling Unit 24

See you all for more tomorrow. Thank-you to all the volunteers willing to learn a folk dance tomorrow for the performance of Les Boucherons at 1:45pm. I know it will be a great experience and you will be part of the bands performance.
