Wednesday, April 22nd

Happy Earth Day everyone. Today in our community circle, we made pledges for Earth Day that are very specific and small but which can and will make a great deal of difference if we consistently follow through with them. Things like turning off the water while brushing our teeth, taking shorter showers, turning lights off when we leave a room and riding bikes to school or walking instead of driving or taking the bus.

We had a very productive morning session and managed to complete a Greek mythology assignment and began the process of learning about Tranformations in Math today by doing Translations (slides) using the catesian graph and 'translating the original coordinates into the new image coordinates.

This afternoon our P.Ed. session was outside in the sunshine and to complete the day we were entertained by a very different type of performance called Les Boucherons. The two actors took us on a journey from early Canada from Jacques Cartier's discovery of the land (that wasn't India) to a look at French influence in Canada today. They even managed to teach a group of grade sevens to square dance and they did an awesome job considering it was very short notice. Thank you to Malcolm and Sarah F. for being very good M.C's

There is no new homework tonight. The spelling test is on Friday (not tomorrow) and the science and math work set earlier this week is now overdue. I'd like to encourage those not complete to either hand in what they have finished tomorrow or get it DONE!

See everyone tomorrow :) Bring your student-led conference forms.
