Friday, April 4th - first week back after the break

It has been a week of adjustment not just to returning to school from Spring Break but also to being accommodating of schedule switches and we even threw in a weather change too!! It has been busy and productive. These changes and adjustments will continue into next week.

Reminders

Monday schedule is adjusted to fit in an i-girls and i-guys workshop from 10-3pm
students are aware that there will be a change in their regular scheduled breaks
hot lunch forms were distributed today due Thursday April 10th
please return the permission forms for the Biennale project by Tuesday next week.
April 11th (Friday) is a district day there will be no school

Our Day

Reading, Language Arts:
We started this morning with another quiet and productive reading time for the lit. circle novels (which was used well)
I am encourages how much students seem to be enjoying the novel he/she chose for him/herself

French
we then completed a revisit of the French vocabulary for clothing and completed a crossword puzzle naming pieces of clothing
after the work puzzle, we continued the clothing 'project' for which there were 4 choices for students to 'show what they know'.

instead of a math switch today we did a games hour and the students seemed to enjoy some time to play together in a cooperative way. There were a vairety of games played:
Pictionary
Monoploy
Scrabble
Chess
Blockus
dominoes
Geoplex building manipulatives
cards
a couple chose to do some work on their art project instead of join a game

read to self (to be honest reading was not high on this afternoon's aganda as I allowed some games to be completed - some art and some reading but...be careful of too much choice!!)

computer session- took forever to laod which was too bad but once on the students were finally into the system they were engaged in a variety of on-line games including Minecraft, Third World Farmer and a virtual physiscs/chemical game called
The powder game on Dan-Ball.

to complete the day (and as we will have no time for any work on Monday due to the all day workshop) we worked, at least the majorty did, on progressing on their personal flags.
