our day
Band class
follow up Lab report on the Polymer lab Monday afternoon - showed them a couple of other ways to create 'flubber' with glue and a starch solution (sorry)
When I asked one of the students what a polymer was at the end of the day all they remembered was that it was in a diaper!!!
Really? That's what they remembered!
Math 7 practice on the skills of measuring and naming angles using a protractor. Started into some practice on recognizing the different types of angles and the letter 'shapes' they make on parallel lines with a transversal- to follow up tomorrow.
1-2pm Renee the Maple Sugar guy
fabulous audio visual and hands on workshop on how to make Maple sugar and an introduction into the French-Canadian culture of working the Maple tree farms. Renee had us playing spoons, dancing a traditional dance and tasting his top grade maple sugar 'pops'.
Read to self
needed a calm quiet(er) time for some independent reading- some read some were still 'high' on maple sugar!!
Students were a little 'squirrelly'!!
New reading record and the April Scholastic flyer were distributed
art - worked more on the landscape sketches started last week- using some scenic pictures for students to follow lines and blends of sea to sky to land. Some are looking very effective. Some students have used shading already- soon we will be using the watercolour pencils and paint- just need the sketched lines completed first.
Have a good night. I have a busy one ahead!
