Fly by Monday March 10th
Oh me, oh my, that had to be one of the fastest Mondays I have ever experienced- maybe it is the time change? Or the sunny weather or the week before spring break ...
Reminders
2pm dismissal tomorrow for Parent teacher interviews- do not worry if you are unable to book Tuesday- I will organize another time that works for you if you just let me know
Hoodie orders are now in and just a head's up I have put in 7 orders (4 for grade 6 students and 3 for grade 7 that are still owing $25)
orders need to be in for the print 'run'
last week before Spring Break
not resuming spelling or class quizzes for langauge and math until after the break
our day
Phys Ed
Bench Ball class game- two different versions and everybody did a good job and pretty much played by the rules! Actually, it was fun today :)
Just about to start a language lesson when we were reminded that we booked to visit Madame Miller's Math Fair in the Library...
her students had prepared 13 different stations of math games and puzzles in both French and English- it was a fun half hour
Math 7 ready nor for work in the text- brief review of lines and angle properties within them
Ch 3.3 finding the area of a parallelogram
pp100- 106 we used the text today to examine the layout of the formula and the way to determine height and base examples from the text in class- we looked at and corrected the work before the end of class.
Still reminding them to show what they know- all working to be in evidence not just an answer!
Booster juice today at lunch
read to self
record
FLight Lab
Plane Partners
the rest of the afternoon we used a program called White Wings to do a hands on lab on making light cardboard airplanes from pre-designed templates which needed to be cut out, decorated and glued together which sounds a lot easier than it is (was)!!
Then we took them out back and 'flew' them with rubber band catapults- there was a substantial wind out there and if the plane was caught in the draft it went forever but some sailed as others unfortuately flopped into the muddy back field and became compromised with mud in their 'noses' - plane rescue 101 was successful for some but others were a little dissapointed- a couple of the designs needed an extra tail piece that in some cases were missed and they just did not 'take off' eh, as well as they might have!
But I learned a couple of things this afternoon
the students were able to focus on directions and worked very well together for a common purpose. Success, even if the planes were not as fly away as the students expected.
It was, as I say, a fly by (past) kind of day...
sorry, couldn't resist
Hope you enjoy the extra hour of sunlight and a pleasant evening
Mrs. J.
