Reminders

last spelling tests of the year (2013) on Thursday
Read part two of the class novel Touching Spirit Bear- approx. a third are now complete and have started their projects (the others are still reading) I am checking progress now every day!
socials project outlines were distributed today BUT I need to decide with the students on an appropriate due date in January once that is determined there will be an outline for every student to take home with them
Intermediate Band concert Monday, December 16th at 7pm

our day

Band class- working to perfect the concert pieces for next Monday

Langauge Arts
spelling practice

novel time: we looked at the themes that were covered in the story an came up with...
survival, empathy (understanding things from different perspectives), Native Circle Justice, dealing with adversity in one's life, importance of positive relationships with others, consequences and repercussions of abuse and violence on people and a community.

Thought they did a good job with that- while the students were working, I made an effort to get around everyone to check on reading progress and determine which project choices have been made- I have encouraged them to let me know if there is something that they would like to do that is not on the list of choices.

Math 7
complete a look at the coordinate plotting points refering to Ch 1 in the text
Back to multiplication and division of integers sso we can complete the BEDMAS with intgers tomorrow

read to self
record

social studies - outlines for projects were distributed: topic for research today was to find an area a "personal interest" that they would be prepared to do a special section on in the project - something they are driven to learn about the civilization or country of choice.

Back in class a chapter of Word Nerd once we had cleaned out the winter mess in the claokroom!! Always interesting on a Band day- instruments, shoes indoor and out, clothing and coats, hats and gloves and the odd lost lunch container among other treasures!!!

It's all good now (still a few lunch containers)

Have a good evening
Mrs. J.
