Tuesday Novemeber 19th

Just so you know, we all had a much better, kinder, more cooperative day - so I am putting Monday down to just being 'one of those days'. My students and I made up and I changed the seating, reviewed the class agreements and we created a more positive class environment together.

I love them all again! :)

Reminders
no new homework but the missing science would be a good idea
Spelling Unit 8 and challenge 4 Thursday

Our day

Band class

Language Arts noun puzzle and personal planning session (the students listened really well to the review of our agreements and were very respectful of both me and each other for the rest of the day).

Math 7 conversions 50% = 1/2 = 0.5
finding equivalency and reducing fractions to lowest level
Practice on converting decimals to percentages and fractions continued
much more productive class today- the new seating seems to have had an immediate impact.
Makes it easier to identify the students having difficulty with the concepts!

read to self
record

session at computers
Activity follow up to the socials/archaeology lesson yesterday
Question: What did you learn about early civilzations and archaeology from our lesson on Monday
research (google) Grade 6 Pacific Rim countries with an eye to making a choice about one you would like to learn more about in a research project. The grade 6 project focus is on modern day culture.
Grade 7 same idea only to google ancientt river civilizations - the grade 7 project is more about the ancient civilization and development of culture.

Art and French (a double dip) les affiches (posters) of either a Winter weather scene or a Christmas scene. The drawing is directed by the French worksheet suggestions but the creativity is open to interpretation by the creativity of the students.

I was attending IEP meetings this afternoon . Mrs. Bruce was covering for me so I am not sure if the art activity had enough time at the day's end - maybe it was introduced and resources for it distributed- it doesn't seem to have had a chance to get off the ground yet perhaps due to time. Something to follow up tomorrow.

Where does the time go?

Dismissal
will catch up with everyone tomorrow
curling at the club tonight.
Have yourselves a good evening
Mrs. J.
