Our day
Physical education
Fitness dance steps (yes, you read that correctly) I am making an effort to teach some fitness dance moves to get my students moving their bodies a little, more fluidly.
Take a little number called Waca Waca (this time for Africa) Shakira's anthem for the 2010 soccer World Cup and add a few stretches and moves, a few hand movements and it makes a neat routine. For the first time, they did very well following the step and move directions but I forgot the I-pad speakers for the actual music part that would make it so much easier!!
Then we did basketball drills and scrimmages.
I was totally surprised that no one complained about the dance - promising, huh?
Spelling return unit 8 found that this unit was a bit more challenging especially if students avoided any kind of study for it!!
Unit 9 preparation and activity (crossword) with an antonym activity that we need to go over tomorrow although the students who completed it did a great job on it.
Math was a challenge today it seemed my students were not quite 'all there' today
However, I forged ahead and we completed the problem solving applying the skills of conversion of decimals and determining percent and even managed to introduce a review of knowledge of integers and how they are used every day in our world. We all survived although a couple of my calculators did not - I have no idea why some students want to pick out the number buttons and render the calculators obsolete!! So destructive.
Hot lunch day today
Read to self
Record progress- only a few days left in November - Scholastic draw this Friday so need to encourage the recording of their reading.
Mrs. Paxton provided another gym session today as she had the Gr. 6/7 volunteer with two Kindergarten classes. I was writing a proposal for an art opportunity this spring with Mr. Parker and a couple of our HSSS colleagues for the Vancouver Biennial Project. Hopefully we can get some financial support for our art and literature plan.
Back in class we started to get ourselves (desks) organized and honestly before we knew it it was time for the dismissal bell. Didn't even get a chance to read our novel word nerd - maybe tomorrow.
Have a good evening.
Mrs J.
