Quick one tonight...
Had some unexpected meetings after school and have to curl at 7pm tonight
Reminders
Unit 5 spelling - and 1st challenge list Thursday
Wednesday math 7 redo quiz on multiplying and dividing decimals- the format is the same just the numbers are different - please review so you can improve results!! Forgot your work and left it at school? Go on-line and find some related practice (Khan academy, IXL or the text website)
Fundraiser at HSSS tomorrow night Harlem Crowns play HSSS for globetrotter type entertainment $10 game starts 7pm
Thursday afternoon having a few treats (healthy, of course) and a movie which I have not divulged to the students yet (didn't want to give them a chance to complain that it is NOT Halloween related)
The student ideas were scary enough so I'm going with a classic Spielberg (shhhhhh ...The Goonies)
Our day...
New seating was interesting and I still like the idea of groups but wonder if it will work socially
Band class
They came back from music loud and proud so once we settled things for language arts we completed the Right Brain/left brain activity
Reviewed the spelling lists and managed to get to a neat brain activity called Trans4mation where the students look at words created using the sounds of numbers for example 4tun8 fortunate or sk8 skate etc
It is the kind of playing with words and letter sounds that create the funny license plates.
Math 7 was spent ensuring the students who are redoing quiz 5 tomorrow received the review and resources they needed to improve their results. Multiplying and dividing decimals.
A small group who did not need the review worked on the BEDMAS activity instead.
Read to self

Computers
Searching for information about Otzi the ice man and and of course wouldn't you know it there were lots of pictures of naked Neolithic people which caused great hilarity - have to realize that this is the stuff of adolescence and just make an effort to move the students onto other topics. Lol
I used the Insight program to freeze the computers and suggest how we could move forward.
I tried to highlight the Canadian Legion website to show them some winning posters but will have to follow that up later.
2:25- 2:55 the grade 6 and 7 students were herded into the gym and Mr. Jory from the SBO asked for their input about how they felt about the possible move of grade seven to the high school. Interesting but I will err on the side of caution and not weigh into this topic either positively or negatively.
Unfortunately the end of that meeting left little time for planners and organization before the dismissal bell. Rats!
I just know some of my students who need to review left without their math work.
See everyone tomorrow.
Mrs. J.
