Our day...
Socials - Aegean civilization from the Bronze age on to the Minoan era. We considered the causes for the disappearance of the Minoan culture on Crete from a few angles: the onslaught of the Mycenaens, the natural disaster of an earthquake and ensuing tsunami (possible beginning of the story of Atlantis) as well as the possible economic decline and inability to prosper as they once did.
Band
Track and field meeting
Math 7 brief review for the Area and Perimeter unit redo tomorrow- what to look at, why and how to improve unit understanding on the redo test Thursday.
We (at least I did as the students seemed more focused on each other!) continued to complete the examples of the adddition and subtraction of mixed numbers completing the examples on the worksheet but leaving the three Bonus questions for attempting!!
Computer session for more review???
[This is the first time this year I have truly felt overwhelmed by the fact that I do not seem to be able to have any positive imapct at all on the math skills or understanding of the math skills of the majority of the students in my class. Where does my job as an instructor end and their responsibility to effect positive results on their own learning begin? Today was frustrating and many students were just completely absorbed by their own agenda which had nothing at all to do with math learning. Hope it is just a passing phase because there is still learning to be done- maybe the results of the redo will renew my hope and energy that all is not in vain!!]
Shot put practice for qualification to the school track team
good news: lots of kids interested in being on the track team
bad news: too many kids to properly prepare for the event
silent reading
(offered a number of alternatives for students who have things they need to complete)
Phys Ed
introduction to European handball- seemed to work well enough- some follow up of the rules needed of course but for a first try it was fast paced and everyone seemd to get the hang of it and mybe eveb enjoyed it just a bit!
Personal Planning
reproductive organs: the journey of the egg and sperm to conception.
We had a better afternoon. :)
pack up for the day
See everyone tomorrow
Mrs. J.
