Friday, May 24th

TGIF

It was a busy Friday (when is it not busy?)

We had the UBC research team here this morning to administer the School Climate survey to our intermediate students.

We had the DRS advanced Band class visit to perform and play with our intermediate Band- they both sounded awesome and the final rendition of Rolling in the Deep with combined Band classes was amazing. Great musical talent and sound- super job everyone. Lots to be proud of and I am sure Mr. Thompson wa ssizing up the talent for the high school band next year. It was great to see former students and enjoy their musical work too.

Thanks to the parents who organized hot lunch today.

Homework
nothing new

Reminders
Due Monday please bring Camp payment and responsibility forms - We only have two days in school next week and will be spending three at Camp May 29-31st (pray for good, sunny, warm weather)
11 students have still to pay the camp dues.

This weekend might be a good time to check out the packing list and get items together for packing next week.

Our day...

UBC survey
I was disappointed that only 9 students in our class took part in the survey as the rest of the students did not return their forms on time- I wonder what it does to the survey data because there were parts of the form I did as a teacher that I was unable to complete due to the small number of students participating. Too bad. I guess that is why all research needs to be analyzed carefully before any real conclusions can be drawn.

Humanities project- ancient Roman/Greek newspaper research
Information out about the project parameters and teamwork roles and individual responsibilites
managed to secure a half hour at computers this morning which will be continued this afternoon :)

Band concert 11-12

very noisy (not silent) reading time- actually had the students have some input into who they would be comfortable with in cabins and activity groups at camp next week (truthfully once we get there those things never seem to matter so much but it provides us some insight and helps us formalize the accommodation lists).

Session #2 at computers today
High School mentors this afternoon

Art
to finish the day and the week- some have started illustrations and puzzles for the newspapers, others are still doing the mosiac project and some decided that their desks were in need of a thorough clean out (and they were!!)

dismissal
Enjoy the weekend. Camp next week...get ready
