March 14th Thursday

Swampy in Squamish!! Rain be gone for the upcoming break!

Homework
none although I did distribute the novels today as some students were interested in getting them started in class- I have requested they go home for the break even if the first five chapters are completed!

Reminders
Friday hot lunch
Twins spirirt day- come dressed the same as another (so ironic as most twins I know want to be dressed differently from each other!!)
Grade 6/7 band concert (impromptu) tomorrow afternoon 1pm

Our day...

Band class today (instead of tomorrow) Mrs. Sorban wanted the two classes to join together and make one great sounding band class

Took the time today to clean out our Term 2 work from binders, desks and classroom bins. There was a lot of paper flying around but it sure feels good to clean out and prepare (have room for) the last Term. Some was stored, some recycled and some left in binders for the coming term.
It is a real balancing act to organize 24 students but we managed and everyone was impressed with their term 2 folders. Some found things they had forgotten about and hadn't finished and others well let's just say there were some suprises in those nether reaches of classroom desks...

Math 7 did the same for the fist part of class with all the Term 2 Math work- clean out and store. We voted on a movie for the cash in of busted points - can't believe Finding Nemo (I love it don't get me wrong but these are grade 7's!) was even on the list of potential choices- finally agreed on Pitch Perfect.

For the math part we managed to complete an activity that requested all three transformations- a slide, a reflection and a rotation. Tomorrow is cash in busted points no binders or texts will be needed. I'll be providing hot chocolate and Mrs. Dawson some popcorn- our treat.

Silent Reading

French- declining irregular verbs etre and avoir (dry as unbuttered toast)

Socials
The story of the ancient civilization of the Minoan culture of Greece and the story of Atlantis- History Channel (You Tube)
This documentary suggests that the ancient civilization of Atlantis was on Crete and looks to the volcanic deposits on the nearby island of Santorini for evidence of a cataclysmic geological event that brought earthquake, volcanic eruption and tsunamis (several) to destroy this amazingly advanced (for the time) culture.

Just before the end of the day I read a few pages of our class novel aloud ...

dismissal just as they were getting restless- good timing.
Keep dry tonight
Mrs. J.
