our day

Band class

Science: quantifying matter and the SI metric system
reading and activity

math 7 review of math and number concepts covered to date using a multiple choice activity and a Think-Pair-Share strategy

Silent reading

Ted Talks we watch a 20 minute video on ted talks about how 'sleight of hand' tricks can confuse our mind and cause us not to see somehting that just happened right in front of us. It was called Brain Magic by Keith Barry (he sounded Irish to me)- very freaky and along the same lines as Chris Angel's feats. Check it out on TedTalks under entertaining or jaw-dropping.

At the end of the day, with the Band students off on their trip and the others out with high school mentors we were left as a small group of 10 or so. We decided on a variety of options: art (some new and some the incomplete projects), games and puzzles. In some ways having a smaller group is more work than having a whole class.
At least it was a sunny day.
Have agreat weekend.
Mrs. J.
