This was the first spirit day that I think the teachers should have won a prize for dressing up for a student spirit day - thank-you to the FOUR students in my class: Jade, Lucy, Hannah Mg and Malaya who dared to have some spirit- I was freezing in my shorts until lunch time when I just couldn't stand it any more- flip flops, shorts, a Hawaii shirt all the way from Hilo Hattie's in Maui, sunglasses and a sun hat - you try teaching algebra looking like a tacky tourist!!
Sorry, Dylan a burrito for lunch is not exactly tropical!
Anyway the teachers ROCKED it and the students; well, in the intemediate grades, the biggest excuse was it was too cold- really? That was the point- bring some warmth into the day by being 'sunny'! Congratulations to the pineapple winning primary student who won for the best Tropical costume- runner up and honourable mention to the staff!!
Anyway hope everyone has a good weekend.

Computer session- completely forgot that I had agreed to switch with opur buddies but it was all good- they shared the compouters and it worked out fine. Thanks for understanding Ms. Gibson.
The grade ones are really good at using the digital art program!
Back in class I tried (really) to play a game- it may have been the wrong game for the end of the week BUT is there a game that is right for the end of the week? It was a listening pattern game but the students were not listening very well and although they said they understood the rules I was unable to stop the silly talk back and abandoned the idea.
we packed up a bit earlier than usual- note to self - always have a strategic back up plan and be more structured at the end of a Friday. It is difficult because four students are out with their high school mentors and are coming back at varying times. Oh well...
I tired to get them to discuss and agree to a 'horseshoe' seating plan for the two weeks before spring break but only 70% of students were there and then we tried to discuss a filedtrip- same result- yip, like I said - wrong time!
talk amongst yourselves
Mrs. J.
