Our day included

Band class
A visit form Mrs. Reed, our VP, clarified the rules on coming and going into the school at breaks and reminded the students (all senior intermediate classes) about why play fighting is forbidden.
Math 7: collected homework, returned the journals, reviewed the examples given in the first journal check- one third of the class had difficulty multiplying and dividing.
We started Place Value with decimal numbers in class and I have asked that they complete the w/s for tomorrow.
I have prepared a poster which will remind students who has/has not handed in (or completed) certain assignments. Names come off the poster as the work is handed in.
Silent reading
yummy grapes for the fruit and veg program- thanks to my grade six worker bees (Dawson et al) who handed them out today. Muchas gracias
Novel - plot graph- the next five chapters will reveal the conflict and the development of the story events. I have asked the students to read with a mind to the twists and turns of the story and Ping's conflict with the despicable Dragon Hunter.
Physical Education: 'beep' run development, core exercise on floor and a class game: pylon elimination - each team has ten pylons to 'protect' whole trying to eliminate the other teams pylons. Although I tried really hard to make two equal teams ( boys, girls, sixes, sevens athletic and not so athletic) the 'blur' team won both games. Good sportsmanship- just a few wasted minutes waiting for attention and forming fair teams.
Back in class- more grapes to share and information about our buddy class (Ms. Gibson's grade ones) and the Terry Fox run Friday. Tomorrow afternoon we will meet our buddy class and prepare to run with them on Friday morning. Any students who want to run the intermediate course instead are welcome to do so but just need to make that intention clear to me.
planners and end of day organization
class game of silent koosh ball
Have a sunny evening- I'm not sure how much longer they will last so let's enjoy while we can!
Mrs. J.
