Friday May 25th

The day disappeared fast today...I have a feeling that the next few weeks will be a blur!

You know, sometimes things, unexpected things, happen out of the blue and today after returning from a panorama picture outside (the one of the whole school population) and a half hour session at computers, there was a beautiful plant on my desk and a lovely card from a former student (1999). Thank-you Sarah R. I am appreciative and was surprised (and moved) by your gift and card. It is inspiring to know that I made a difference for you. Thank-you for the acknowledgement.
These unexpected moments are what keeps me doing what I am doing despite the nasty politics and the lack of proper resources.

Homework
none
Reminders
Monday come prepared for a day at the Lake -Evans Lake
A What to Bring List was issued today and we went over it in detail this morning so I hope that everyone remembers that Monday morning we are off to the camp at 9am

What we told them:
wear runners or hiking shoes for running around the forest (no flip flops), wear long pants not jeans or shorts that are not short shorts (for safety and modesty concerns), bring an extra t-shirt, a light jacket (or fleece) in case of rain, something to swim in and a towel for drying off, a snack and water bottle, some sunscreen, a hat and a camera
NOT needed:  excess clothing, lunch is provided, and if technological items (i-pods, cell phones etc.) are brought, we are not assuming responsibility for losses or breakage.
The students have a full day of outdoor activities including swimming, group games, canoeing, paddle boarding and possible rock climbing. The bus trip is about 25minutes.

It is Friday and I was beginning to 'lose' them!!

Art to complete the day:
Spend a million posters for the grade sevens and for the grade sixes: a collage of 'colours and things that catch your eye' from a selection of magazines. It really is interesting to see what 'catches the eye'. Some are doing floral arrangements, some cars and machines and others fashion and jewellery.
Never underestimate the power of a pair of scissors, a glue stick and a bunch of old magazines.
All of a sudden the slump of the science lesson became an excited chatter of interaction as they shared and showed and cut and glued and created their posters.

Meanwhile, I ran around with the recycling bin checking out the ideas and the posters and searching for relevant pictures for the students- thanks for emptying the recycling bins Harjot and Ajay.

Dismissal came fast and I had to hold them back at the bell to distribute the Camp info. sheet!
Have a great weekend.
Get a good sleep on Sunday night and pray for Monday sunshine!
See you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Monday (no flip flops!!!!!)
Mrs. J.
