The girl's have a home basketball game against Brackendale and I can't go to see the boys' game and not show up to support the girls' or my name will be 'mud'!!

SRA reading lab
I am happy to report that over two thirds of the class is onto book number two (which means 8 cards have been completed. When they have successfully (100% comprehension) completed at least four levelled cards, we increase the reading level and the challenge

Writing follow up- Persuasive style
backing up reasons and providing a convincing argument
Today we chose the Kindle and used the overhead to look for the pros and cons of reading books digitally

Math 7
follow up on the problem solving using the chapter 12 quiz on line for math Links 7. As a class we managed a 9/10 which was very encouraging- our one error was in choosing the incorrect expression from a multiple choice list!
We have been working independently and together on various types of numeracy problems that we can use our 'bag of tricks' to solve: charts, graphs, equations, drawings, patterns and a variety of arithmetic skills.

Silent Reading
Congratulations to Tesla who won this month's free draw from the reading records- she won a Hunger Games journal :)

Personal Planning
What's the Risk? Today we followed up with a personal risk assessment using 8 of the situations we discussed during Monday's class.

Basketball mini-games
good fast and sportsmanlike play- just rather noisy with everyone calling to each other. I tried it as a silent activity and they did very well for five minutes!! I'll try that again as they must use different techniques for communicating as a team.

Logo Letters design and colour
Novel presentation: 5 different novels were briefly presented and tomorrow there will be a vote. I have decided I can handle about three literature circles. The students will get the chance to read a class novel of their choice.
