Welcome to all my Russian Blog readers- I was pleasantly surprised to see so many hits from Russia today- more than my Canadian readers so far but to be fair I am a bit delayed with this post and most read it in the early evening. Thank-you to all my loyal and random Blog readers- your interest makes the time spent worthwhile and I enjoy it as a reflective exercise after the school day. When I write about some things I see them from a different perspective! Thank-you.
Today the students did better than I thought they would after last night's adventures- a few were tired and a little cranky but we all survived the day.

- divide using 10 blocks or by papaer and pencil algorithm
- using a calculator - ensuring the divsor is in the correct placement for accuracy in calculation
We also reviewed the art of scientific notation (which we have worked on before) and students who were complete the textbook work started on the Scientific Notation worksheet.

For parents:
During the 'work-to-rule' of the job action, I have still been assessing your children's work and progress like I do every year- I am doing very little differently in my daily work with your children (my students). I will be (have begun) to e-mail parents and begin a process of providing you with assessment information pertaining to your son or daughter.
Over the next two weeks, I will be contacting you either by phone or e-mail. If you would like more information, feel free to e-mail me or call the school especially if you would like to meet.
I will be available for meetings but will not be setting up a traditional parent-teacher interview evening. However, there are a couple of early dismissal days that I can be available between 2 and 3:30pm. Perhaps when we share information we can determine if a meeting is required.
I will not be providing a formal report card but have the opportunity to provide you and your child with a progress report that is accurate and unique to your child's progress without the bounds of the formal process.
I look forward to communicating in the coming weeks. Thank-you for understanding. "marks' are available if you wish to see or be advised of them.
Mrs. J.
