Math 7 results for Quiz #2 were really encouraging 26 students wrote the quiz 22 passed 4 didn't. That's an 85% pass 15% redo rate. We reviewed the test today and analysed reasons that may be behind diffculty in performing on quizzes from plain out not bothering to study to brain freeze due to PANIC.
A chance to redo will be given tomorrow.
We worked briefly on a follow up to the review of factors, multiples and prime numbers and set the worksheet for home so we could celebrate our hard work on the quiz with some computer lab time- the students enjoyed 20 minutes 'free' time. I showed a quick PPP (power point presentation) on how the numbers we use became the numbers we use from ancient days.
I think the students enjoyed the little break :)
Silent Reading
helped with one student with organizational difficulties
another with math re-instuction for the quiz redo tomorrow
Art follow up of the Halloween project and the Name Acrostics to the ppoint that we didn't do Phys Ed today- something's got to give and with volleyball season in full swing our students are getting lots of fitness and exercise- we needed some time to get things completed.
I have been getting frustrated with the amount of time that it takes us to transition )lots of off task chatting, distracted behviour and social silliness- it is something we really have to impprove together as soon as possible- a new seating plan will help but we still need to re-visit time spent 'off-task'!!
We took art time to the end of the day and I do think the students enjoyed it.
Clean up od desks, planners and homework review, prep for home before dismissal.
Have agood night.
Mrs. J.
