Spell Test List #5 (redo #4)

Ghost Story IQ- a fun-filled activity where I told 4 'well worn' (almost cliche) ghost stories and the students have to finish them in their journals with the traditional conclusions OR they can get all creative and complete the stories as they would like them to finish...there was a lot of  "Chucky" scenarios from one participant!! but for the most part the students recognized the well told tales and enjoyed sharing their weird and gory endings!!

Computer time for the good copies of the Reader Response #2 - I was a bit disappointed with the show of homework from the students who pretended they had never heard of a reader response before let alone that it was a homework assignment- really- come on!!
However, a handful of students managed to use the lab time to complete the good copies as expected (the way it is supposed to work!).

Math 7 we completed the Division work that we first looked at earlier this month (Oct 12th) and ensured the students could now see that the movement of the decimal point to make the divisor whole id the key to division of decimals. We also corrected the Exponent worksheet leaving about ten examples for more practice. Another pretty good class- reviewed square root and its connection to square numbers.

Silent Reading

Socials activity from yesterday (archaeology- we discovered that our virtual excavation was from a family farm circa late 1800's like 1870-1900 (1903)
Students found the forming of resonable guesses (inferring) challenging - we nned to work more on that skill.

Physical Education- team volleyball- good class- stretches first and all shot making observed.

Complete the socials activity and we ended the day by playing a class game of 'silent ball' with a ball made of 'fingers'!!! I owed some P.Ed. time from last week and the boys had a volletball game after school and didn't want to do anything too strenuous!!! Go figure!! :)
Good luck at Volleyball (they are at Brackendale tonight)

Planners and homework, pack up and chairs before dismissal.
See everyone tomorrow.
Mrs. J.
