spelling study time
returned last week's paragraph work and analyzed the writing errors that need to be addressed generally
- use of speech punctuation and format for characters speaking in text
- sentence structure (especially run-on-sentences!!)
- details, details, details needed to fill out the paragraph structure (more 'fixings' needed!)
Math 7
Completed w/s Extra Practice #2.2 on placing the decimal point
about one third of the class had not completed it (as requested) for homework!!
corrected/reviewed the correct answers to # 3 and # 4
Math Link p51 in class- finding how much the total cost of four people travelling by bus or train or plane would be and considering what type of travel would be preferable.
Exponents review w/s 10 students completed in class the rest have (or have been asked) to complete the work for tomorrow's class.
Silent Reading
Socials- Continents and land mass- so many still have trouble with Oceania!! I spelled Antarctica wrong and was 'busted' - the class maps had minds of their own and wouldn't stay in place!! However, the students did a great job with the atalases and we managed to complete the activity and review the answers together in class. :)
Phys Ed. nets up in gym today we managed to organize 2 sets of 5x5 volleyball games with the remaining students (3) practicitng and then spelling off classmates after the switch of court and teams after every 6 minutes of play. Thanks to Harjot for helping with the reffing.
finished the mapping activity (see socials above)
I showed the students my collection of maps (I have 8 and I love them all!!) World Political, World topographical, Canada, B.C., Ancient Rome, Ancient city of Rome, Ancient Greece and another world map that I can hardly reach to pull it down- it was quite a show and the students enjoyed me prancing around as maps flew up and down and didn't work when I needed them to! lol
planners, homework, clean up and dismissal - another day done!
Have a nice evening.
Mrs. J. I look forward to seeing all the 'twins' tomorrow!! I think
