A weather change sometimes brings about different behaviour believe it or not...a few challenges today but generally a productive Wednesday :)
I'm getting a super jump on the Blog today by starting it on my lunch hour as I have a fitness class after school.
Homework & Reminders
Math 7 complete to the best of your ability the Divisibility rules worksheet- we ran out of time in class and will follow it up tomorrow- don't worry if you find it too confusing- just try
Math 6 complete the t-chart w/s and just for practice try some of the multiplication facts
Reminders
request for 'comfort kits' for emergency situations
no school Friday
verification forms due
Monday night is instrument rental night 3-6pm
General Day
Discussed our daily schedule (timetable) which I worked on last night- students seemed to be in agreement with it so far- it is preliminary but we'll make an effort to follow it until the end of September before considering any adjusments. Student will have their own copy soon.
There are 10 curricular areas and a snack/recess time built into the 1500 minutes required by the MinEd.
Language Arts- I distributed and read the first chapter of our Term 1 class novel Who is Frances Rain? by Margaret Buffie. I also provided a notebook journal to each student. Our first entry was a personal reaction to the book's first chapter and characters.
Band
Math 7 remembered to ask for the communication forms today :) Thank-you. I have three of 12
Once settled we checked and reviewed the correct answers on the first two pages of the Rounding Numbers booklet. Then we completed together in class page #3 instructing the procedure for rounding decimal numbers. Place Value was reviewed on the other side of the decimal point- it seems easy but for some it is like thinking 'backward' because unlike whole numbers, the bigger the number, the smaller the fraction- I am encouraging the students to think about decimals as fractions.
A divisibility rules worksheet is for completion as we ran out of time. This will be followed up Thursday
Silent reading- some challenges today
Charter Activity to draw up our class agreement. We are now ready for the wording of the Class Agreement and I must commend the group work today. It is apparent however that there are a few students having difficulty working with their 'friends' (Duhhhhhh!)
Phys. Ed.
Very challenging today- lots of difficulty listening to instructions for the basketball activity. Actually it was difficult for the class to form a circle!!! I'll blame it on the weather today!!
Managed to get it together but half an hour gym time disappears very quickly what we spend most of the time on directions!!! Hopefully, it will improve. Postive thinking!
Art- continue with Manga activity- needs a bit more concentrated time.
Planners, organization and prep for dismissal.
Stay dry.
Until tomorrow Mrs. J.
