Congratulations to the Cross Country runners who ran their hearts out in Whistler today :)
Also congratulations to our class rep Harjot and 'alternate' Hannah who will be atending the student forum meetings on Friday to represent our class.
Quick one tonight, folks- I have an appointment soon and the reason things area little delayed is because I was doing the new desk arrangement as approved by the class!!
This is seating plan #3 and while I don't usually ask for so much input in a single seating arrangement, I do like to listen to and observe the students working in many different scenarios. There's no point to assigned seating if everyone is uncomfortable but I have explained that it is not my job to ensure everyone's happiness but instead to create an atmosphere where everyone is comnfortable for best learning.
They get it.

Seating Plan approval
Science: Ecosystems and Diversity of Life science posters- group teamwork- fabulous job- after I reviewed the rubric for presentation of posters EVERY group earned a level 4 (top level) Very impressive work.
So many students were away today (7) that I completed the demonstration and gave one further example of the place value algorithm for long multiplication (i.e. 456x258) and had students check by the traditional method and calculator. When I have time I will try to post the place value method on the Blog for parents who are interested.
We completed the class by checking out the on-line program and giving students some time to check into the available features and on-line math games.
silent reading- good today- yeah- we needed it :)
French weather by month posters- would like them finished this week! May have time in Art on Friday afternoon.
Phys Ed. took advantage of the nice afternoon and went into the back field to play a game of California kickball. Not bad- we are making strides in inmproving team work and sportsmanship. However, one team was a little 'unbalanced' skills wise. I do try to create and sometimes give students a chance to create balanced teams; however, there's always someone who thinks things aren't fair. C'est la vie, n'est ce pas?
Once back in class (we took an extra 10 minutes in the sun) we worked further on the posters and then did our dismissal routine. Clean, planners, pack for home.
Have a good night. Study Rounding Numbers- worksheet 1.4
