Last Day with students June 29th

Well today was the last time with this group of students as they are now well and truly off to new adventures at high school- can't help but get a little melancholy although I am ready to recharge my batteries this summer.

We watched the Evans Lake slide show made by the students collaborative effort- many thanks to the girls, Brooke, Lexi and Saleena, who downloaded the pictures I took at camp from a CD-rom disk and created a movie in Windows Movie Maker complete with dynamic picture fades and captions and a really cool song about friendship. I have to find out who the artist is. Mr. Parker had also downloaded his many pictures from camp and we watched those with his class in the computer room from his lap top this morning. I think they enjoyed it- he had chosen some great music too, Coldplay and Adelle :)

Then we returned to class to hand out the achievement and recognition awards- the students were very genuine in their applause and comments and I believe that I made sure that everyone received a recognition for something that they did well this year. Some parents joined us before the end of the hour.

Before report cards went out we did the Silly Cwertificates which I have done every year to find something funny and memorable for each student- I have the students guess who it is and we had a 95% accuracy this year on the recipients. They are meant to celebrate all the characters I have in the class! Among others we had the Harry Houdini award for the best 'escape' from class, the Mister Messy award for the ...well I think that one speaks for itself and the Tiny Pencil award for one of my students who has pencils so small that you can't even see them in his hand!!!

10 am report cards
hugs, byes, gifts- much appreciation for the thoughtful gifts that you sent. Thank-you for all your support this school year. Have a safe, sunny(?) and happy summer. Good luck with the transition to Don Ross this fall.

There will be a bit of a hiatus in posts on this blog as I recoup my energy for the next school year. Thanks for reading everybody. Later...ciao

There's a lot of cleaning up and putting away to do for the summer cleaning crews.
