Friday May 27th TGIF

Quick one tonight- had a computer 'service' update after school so it has taken a while for this entry to get done...

Nothing new for homework!
Remember to bring Camp forms and payment by Wednesday June 1st

General Day
Did a cooperative games type work out today for DPA- it is always a surprise to me to see how much fun various games of tag can be as the students scream and move as fast as they can away from the 'taggers'. I think they enjoyed it - we played 'everyone is 'it'', 'train tag' and a ball tag games with two shifts of 7 aside.

The camp equipment lists went out today detailing the necessary items for the Camp trip to Evans Lake- the 2 day itinerary was included. We read over it in class and the students asked questions - one observant student noticed their is no swimgear on the list- that needs to be added (oops) it's just still so chilly that it was overlooked!
Camp cabin lists still to come.

Tried some Science Ch 5 Pure and Mixed substances p130/131- I needed the help of my students to read as I completely lost my voice due to allergies and a head cold. Thanks for the 'assistance Ashleigh and Callista :)- we just read the chapter info and spoke briefly before recess about how much of our food and clothing is a mixture of matter. We will be undertaking an investigation into the types of substances that are used in everyday cosmetics and clothing items. It is kind of scary- ever heard of a book called, Death by Rubber Duck ?

After recess, I provided the students with an hour to get an assignment or two completed so they all had time to get work done as a 'catch-up' get organized session. Some great poems happening and I think I now have (nearly) all the science.

DEAR time was used well today :)
Mr Elliot (computer tech would like to thank Randy and Thomas for their help with the new hard drive installations)

Next we did a 'jigsaw' activity getting input for our upcoming sports day from the Grade sevens whom we have asked to run the stations this year. It did get a little silly near the end but some good ideas and suggestions were offered. Thank you to those who participated and provided some great feedback about the events you love and want to keep and some new ones you'd like to include.

Computer time ended the day- approx. half the class worked on their Socials travelogue and the other half on computer games of all sorts. Like I said I like to let some free time happen once on a while just to see what the lastest great sensation is on-line.
Dismissal 3pm
Have a good weekend.
Mrs. J.
