The events from Japan are so devastating that it makes me realize that we can maybe prepare for an earthquake but we can never really be ready for an unexpected earthquake, especially a BIG one. We have been analyzing the movement of the plates in science and looking at the patterns of earthquake activity around the 'ring of fire'. We know to expect them in this area but when?
Somehow though an 8.9 magnitude is hard to underdstand, when you see the footage of the shaking and the resulting tsunami, it is inconceivable. It is a life changing event that we have no control over. I cried when I watched the news and saw the cars swirling around in the water wondering how many people were unable to get to safety.

New Video Game groups - storyboard meetings- students worked on their story synopsis and discussed the format of the poster or storyboard.
11:30 - 12 we all went to the gym to support the dance sequences performed by the grade two students in Ms. Mah's class. Then, after we were a supportive audience, we all got up and boogied- shook our groove thing to Crazy Frog (don't ask!!!) :) It was fun.
DEAR time was good- I helped some students who missed yesterday's filing of L. Arts and French to get organized.
House Keeping Item!!
I appealed for the students' help in the general clean up of the mess- it is warm enough now that we are attracting fruit flies and juice boxed etc need to be rinsed and NO food stuff is to be in desks- you wouldn't believe what we found hiding in some desks!! No - you don't want to know!
Art time -teams worrked on the frames for their story board for the video game project
We finished up at computers and some time for clip art or game ideas took up a bit of time- free time for the remainder. The students are tired and I am too. TGIF
