Well, the snow did arrive a little differently from expected- it began yesterday in stops and starts and it fell this morning fat and wet. By the afternoon, it rained; so underfoot right now is a slushy mess!! Welcome to BC!!
This message goes out to all my far flung students who are not back from break yet...hello to Manitoba and hello the the U.K.- not sure if you have access to the Blog but if you do 'hello'- look forward to your return and stories from break :)

General Day
L'heure en francais: review of the vocabulary and structures for telling the time in French
Math introduction to the vocabulary of Algebra (algebraic equation, variables, numerical coefficients and what it means to 'gather like terms' amd 'simplify' to find a solution
We completed a booklet of introduction to integers in pictoral and real life examples like +/- hockey stats, stock market gains and losses and temperature fluctuations.
For Language arts we completed a puzzle that helped us review the past participle of irregular verbs in English- the students did a fabulous job and quickly too!!
11:30-noon computer lab for research and beginning to word process the research notes for the socials project
Dear time was used for spelling, SRA lab work, independent reading etc. Productive for the most part- a few reminders were needed!!
Art -Egyptian profiles- looking at the design of the linen clothing, amulets, jewellery and make up worn in ancient Egypt so that students can design their own Egyptian profile- they have just started and they look great!!
Computer lab part 2- more time (25 minutes) to continue the project research or work ... some were less productive this afternoon!!
Phys Ed, rounded out our busy day- we continued the basketball practice of passing throws and dribbling skills. Co-ed teams scrimmaged in groups of 5. Students seem to be enjoying it but I may need to separate the teams as I have 10 girls and I can play 5 against 5. The girls complain bitterly that the boys are not very fair with including them in the games. To be fair thought there are a couple of boys who are very fair with the passing and game inclusion. Big thanks to you- you know who you are.
It was a good dayand it was 3pm dismissal before we knew it. Keep your feet dry :)
See everyone tomorrow. I'm off to my fitness class- wish me luck!
Mrs. J.
