Need to make this quick and I'll complete it later tonight as I have to be at a meeting across town in 15 minutes!!
Homework for tomorrow
Study for the review quiz on integers tomorrow- it will include all the components of the sample quiz we did in class today. I asked students to take home their class worksheet to use as a study guide.
There are 4 socials projects still to be submitted
Unit 13 spelling for those who missed will be tomorrow (Unit 12 and 14 were completed today)
The spelling bee is tomorrow afternoon - I'd suggest studying the words from grade six up as those were the ones that gave the students most difficulty this afternoon in our mini-class spelling bee. The ten spellers from our class did a great job nonetheless. :)
Reminders
Tomorrow is PJ Day and 1pm is our annual spelling bee.
The letter for the UBC Chan Centre filedtrip has to be signed and returned with $5 for the bus.
Need to get to a meeting- I'll finish the blog later tonight.

Okay I'm back!!! Just love politics- don't you? Makes the world go around I hear!!!
General Day
Started with Unit 14 spelling test
Chapter 9 of Word Nerd : the students laughed when Ambrose couldn't help his 12 year old curiosity and asked Cosmo, the recently out of jail Cosmo, why he was "in the slammer'- the answer had Ambrose worried "for trying to kill a boy of about your age for asking too many questions". Ambrose went home and baricaded himself inside his basement apartment even although he had a hunch that Cosmo was pulling his leg.
Band class
Math today we did a 'dry-run' of the unit quiz that the students will be writing tomorrow. We went over the correct answers after encouraging them to do as many examples as they could. This provides them with a good, corrected study guide that I have encouraged them to go over tonight- there are also some really good math web sites that provide on-line practice. The test will have similar examples and the same patterns as the worksheet we did in class today.
From 1-2pm today Charlene Williams conducted a guest aboriginal art session. The students produced some amazing eagles and salmon from her teaching of the traditional shapes and colours used by the Squamish Nation- she had some really beautiful artifacts and art pieces to share with us and I know that the students enjoyed it enough that they wanted to continue the activity once her session was over.
We conducted a mini-class spelling bee to give some practice for the 10 grade sevens who are taking part in the annual spelling bee tomorrow afternoon. s I noted earlier the grade six words and up were the ones that were providing some challenges but everyone managed to last at least three rounds :) Great job. I look forward to the competition Friday afternoon.
We packed up- I reminded the students about the letters that some had forgotten yesterday for the UBC field trip and it was already 3pm!!
I don't know where the time wenmt but it disappeared...
Until tomorrow
Is the full moon gone now? Remember jammies tomorrow!! It's difficult to be serious in PJ's
